Monitoring your blog traffic

It was in November when we launched our website. Since then, we've been exerting a lot of efforts in marketing our website in the internet. Our target is to top the Google SERP since most users in the Philippines use Google for search.

But to our dismay, we learned that our website was spammed by some user named SAM. Based on my analysis, the PRC was spammed so that the SERP results will be manipulated to our disadvantage.

The following are the tools I use in monitoring my site traffic (also for monitoring possible spam sources):

  • Technorati

Our technorati page received several pings from the spammer's website. Several links point to our website. It was very suspicious since the source websites contains gibberish titles.

  • SEOTrail

This is a new SEO tool which I learned from my friend. SEOTrail.com monitors websites which connect to your website. From this tool, we learned that our website was spammed. But aside from the track backs of site links, this tool also organizes the back-links according to the type of source where the ping came from. It also monitors the volume of links our site received.

  • Google Analytics

Of course, the analytics works well in monitoring website traffic source. Aside from the traffic volume that is monitored, analytics offer a wide range of information gathering tools which is very helpful in monitoring your site traffic.

Too much traffic on my new domain

A couple of days ago, Jehzeel and I launched PRC Board Exam Results. It's a web archive intended to provide recent results board exam results published by the Professional Regulation Commission. Since then, we've been doing serious campaigns and SEOs for the site.

Yesterday, the PRC released the LET August 2007 results. My english teacher friend woke me early in the morning just to announce that the results are already released. I immediately jumped to my computer to make posts.

An hour after I made my posts, the website experienced problems. Some users receive an Internal Server Error message. Sometimes, the wordpress loses its connection to the MySQL Server. We were able to fix the problem when we divided the results into several pages. It reduced the server's load.

When I checked the traffic in the evening, the site statistics showed that my site received 20,000 page views on that day. Wow. That's the highest traffic I received for a single day statistic.

SELaplana, another site which posts board exam results, even crashed because of the huge traffic.

Batang Yagit is now PR4

Yepee! I'm just glad Google Bot did not miss my blog when he last made a Page Rank check on the web. After I bought BatangYagit.com, from 2, my PR went down to zero. All of my hopes went down also. But now, I can brag my PR4. Hahaha.

I'm in NCCC Mall now for the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit. I'm excited for the day's activities.

Facebook Proxy, Friendster Proxy, MySpace Proxy

Proxy sites aid users to bypass or unblock several network securities set by their network administrators. Many offices, schools and public facilities block sites like Facebook, Friendster, MySpace, Orkut, and Multiply.

By using Proxy servers and proxy sites, users can find alternative paths to access their desired sites. Instead of finding a way to hack your administrator's network securities, you may want to use these Proxies we have found.

  1. Myspace Proxy
  2. Friendster Proxy
  3. Facebook Proxy
  4. Seyoh Proxy
  5. Nakatago Proxy
It's a lot of fun trying to unblock Friendster, Myspace or Facebook. Shhhh. Don't tell your administrators about this. We'll try to update the list if we find more relevant sites.
