Wohoo! I now have my SmartBroken internet connection restored

After getting through a lot of hassles in restoring my internet connection, SmartBro finally fixed it.

My internet connection got disconnected sometime last week. I had to pay a few thousand to get my internet connection restored. (Just an advice, don't skip your payments cause it would get you into trouble). I missed a couple of internet bills which later accumulated and made Smart cut my subscription. The missed internet bills were during my Manila trip last May and my school retreat last September.

Last week, I went to SMART Wireless Center in Gaisano Mall to pay my subscription fees. I got pissed on how the people in SMART treated me. First, the "Arrogant Guard" didn't give the queue number immediately. Since their queuing system is broken, the "Arrogant Guard" had to manually assign a priority number. The "Arrogant Guard" is supposed to answer queries and inquiries before the client proceeds to customer care or cashier, but the "Arrogant Guard" was not able to this because the "Arrogant Guard" has to attend the "Stupid Assistant" first. The "Stupid Assistant", who is supposed to assist the "Arrogant Guard" in serving the clients, was having trouble in operating the payment kiosk of SMART. So I waited for a while for the "Arrogant Guard" to finish helping the "Stupid Assistant" before I got my priority number.

I was advised to queue for the customer care because I need my account to be verified before I can proceed to the cashier. But before I can pay to the cashier, I had to ask for another queue number from the "Arrogant Guard". The "Arrogant Guard" insisted that I should pay my money to their payment kiosk. I was hesitant after I saw what happened a while ago. So I told the "Arrogant Guard" that I need to pay the money directly to the cashier so it can be posted immediately. So the "Arrogant Guard" gave me a new queue number for the cashier.

I was standing near the "Arrogant Guard"'s position because all of the seats were already occupied. I waited for a couple of minutes when the "Arrogant Guard" suddenly talked to me. He told me to go straight to the cashier since it's already my turn. So I deliberately obliged to what he instructed me. When I reached the money and queue number to the cashier, the cashier told me, "Sir, mamaya pa po yung number nyo.".

Grrr...I can feel my blood boiling in anger. Damn that "Arrogant Guard". Damn him. I had to back off to let the other person, who happened to be ahead of me, to pay.

After paying, I didn't even dare to look at the "Arrogant Guard's" direction. Damn him.

After I made the payment, I immediately went home to check if the payment was indeed posted in SMART's system. I was disappointed to see that my LAN Card won't detect any connection. I checked the power adapter for my Canopy Adapter, checked the LAN Connections, yet, nothing worked. The message "A network cable is unplugged" still flashes at the bottom right side of my screen. I immediately called SMART Hotline to fix the problem. Their conclusion, damaged LAN Cable. They told me they'd call the next day to schedule a contractor to visit my home and fix the problem.

I waited, yet no one called. I called SMART again and told them that I will wait until evening so they could make a schedule before Monday. I waited, still no one came.

Yesterday, while I was enjoying my meal at McDonalds in SM, I received an SMS from an unknown person. It says, "Hi sir/maam. Saan po banda ang bahay nyo? SmartBRO po ito".

I asked them if they were coming because I waited for their call. The next message I received, they were already in front of my house. I had to rush back home to catch them but they sent another SMS saying they are leaving for Toril to serve another client and they'll come back later in the afternoon.

They did not show up yesterday because it rained. They said they'd come back the next day.

They had my internet fixed this morning. I had to pay an extra 200 pesos for the replacement of the iron tube where the antenna is attached. They said they can't get enough signal so they had to extend the height of the antenna. My internet connection is fixed now. Got to blog some more. I missed a lot from the few days of absence.

Somebody pissed me off

Ever experienced receiving complaints from people who does not think before complaining? I just did.

I was doing another sms broadcast session to my dear 1400 Kalasag subscribers when I received an sms which drove the hell out of me. The sms that I sent to these students was regarding the extension of the deadline for the Kalasag graduate pictorials. Below is the sms I sent the graduates.

My Message:

Kalsag pictorials r Xtnded til Oct 06. Subscri/Soli still on Sept 29.

Chck ur pics and prfiles. Klsg exhibit on Monday n front of elvtr. Pls be free 2 visit.

This was the reply I got from +639209453380 (using +639180000502 SMS Center, Saturday, 9/15/2007).

@11:12:32 P.M. from +639209453380

U should, its because of the inconvience that you give to the students for the pictorial, students need to wait 3 to 8 hours to be able to pic by the cheap and unprof photographers of the *** ***** studio. To editor in staff pls think and reflect on the decision that you made for choosing *** *****. f.Y.I we the students dont care how much are we going to pay for kalasag pic as long their quality and save time. WAKE UP KALASAG staff. Wake wake up.

My reply:

You were given more than a month for the graduate pictorials. 7 days a week wasn't bad at all. its just that lots of students have the "mamaya na" habit which caused a lot of delays. If you have complains regarding the services of *** ***** studio, please address it to Mr. ***** **, owner of ** Studio.

@11:27:14 P.M from +639209453380

Ei, try to interview former students. They dont wait for almost 8 hours for a kalasag pic. Am i ryt? NCCC MALL? Is far frm addu? And the studio accepts other client also. They dont have a clean toga or polo for the kalasag pic. This is first time in the history of kalasag.

I didn't give my reply, to end the issue. Complaining about faulty or unsatisfactory services is not bad at all. In fact, it can help the person, group or company being complained to improve their product or services. The bad thing is when the complaint is delivered in an unethical manner.

The sender, who's number appeared above, did not introduce himself/herself. Second, he/she used a different number from those present in our database. If you want your complaints to be addressed properly, then let us know who we are talking to. "Explain before you complain", just like what Joey de Leon said.

The week it was

As you may have noticed, I didn't get to post much this week. I have been busy with some things here. Thank God I still find time to make this post despite that I have to study for my quiz this morning. Mind you guys, it's a really really long quiz. Three weeks of my classmates' reports packed in a single quiz. That's quite long, isn't it.

So what was keeping me busy this week? Hmmm... a lot of things.

  • Thesis Papers. Yeah, I am graduating this March (hopeful). As for graduating students, we are required to make our thesis paper. For us engineering students, we call it Project Study. We have to come up with a prototype system that we could use to help our community. Since we are joining the 4th Smart SWEEP this year, we are obliged to make our project study relevant to this year's theme which is Going Wireless for Disaster Preparedness. We already have decided what project to make. The only problem we had was the submission of the first three chapters of the thesis paper. It's quite difficult cause we have to submit it on Tuesday and we have started doing it the day before. (We were a day late, we submitted it on the Wednesday)

  • Malaysian Friends. Seven Malaysian friends are here in Davao to do a mission for the church (Hope of God). They are here to introduce their Church to the Uni (that's how the truncate the word University) students since they see the potential from these kids. Anyway, I have been going out with them for a couple of nights now. It was fun. I enjoyed their company a lot.

  • Microcontroller Project. This one set me on a bad mood. The project was supposed to be submitted on the morning of Thursday. Until Wednesday, nobody took the initiative to make the project. So I decided to do it on the afternoon of Wednesday. I was at the Kalasag Office the whole afternoon, squeezing my brain out while I work on the program. I am not even sure if the given conditions (from our teacher) that I know were right. Since almost everyone were aware that I was working on the project, someone from our class asked for the HEX File. His statement really set my mood really bad. He could have asked for the source code if he wanted to copy. At least in that way, he has the chance of learning the code I made. Well, he did not. If that's what he wants then fine. So I decided not to share it to the class (who did not do the program), except of course to my group mates. Again, everything did not end there. One of my group mates, a trusted friend, spilled out the information that we already finished the code. And me on the other hand, not knowing what my friend told the class, said that we have not done anything yet and I am still working on it. (Denial to the MAX). I've been like this for the whole time not until that trusted friend admitted that he told the class about our code. WTF! So what's up now? Am I being presented as the antagonist of the show? ... Thursday morning, I woke up late from the stress the previous night had brought me. I was shocked when I entered the room, only to find out that my classmates were around that trusted friend's workstation cramming their way in getting a copy of the code. Ok. No need to explain. I see what's happening. I don't need to freak out. I don't need to make any wrong moves.
Hmmm...what else kept me busy for the time I was not online? Aha, I've been watching Dragon Zakura for the past week. It's a Jap Series about a lawyer who became a teacher. I guess it's similar to Gokusen. :D

*Arggh*

Yun lang muna sa ngayon. Wala akong gana.

My laptop's power cord is broken

I have lots of stuff to do on my computer but I can't do it now. My laptop's power cord is broken since last Friday. I used it to make a report on Thursday evening but when I used it in school, it's broken. It won't charge. The adapter still works fine with Kim's power cord. I tried looking for a spare from the computer stores here but they are out of stock. Even Computer World where I bought my power cord has now available stocks.

I'll try my luck again tomorrow.

Chewable issues

Mind your own matters. Why would some people love to sniff on other people's ass? Darn those chewable issues! Get a life!

look who's pissed off

46 minutes ago, i was so damn pissed off by a group of people who don't have anything to do with their own fuckin lives but criticize and scrutinize other people's stuff. These are people who, even at an early age, have politics stuck inside their hollow heads as if it is a banner hanging on a pole. True enough, they are dumbheads. Consider asking a question to someone when you know very well that the answer to this is as easy as getting the sum of one plus one. Where's your logic people? I am not in a habit of naming names and pointing my fingers. You know who you are. And you better shut your mouths up coz your dumbness surfaces without you knowing it. Do your self a favor. Get a life!
