After the summit, what's next?
I've been away from home for a couple of days now. A day after the summit, I left home. Huhuhuhu... now I'm a lonely vagabond. Toink!
It's my second time to leave the country. Exciting! Hahahha. When I arrive in Manila, I had to wait for Jehzeel kasi nasa kanya ang ticket ko for Clark. After waiting for Jehz, we both went to Mall of Asia to have our breakfast. An hour of eating and chit-chats. Pinapa-inggit ko siya of stories from the previous day's event, MBS1. He also gave me half the sheet of Google stickers Ate Aileen gave him.
After we had our breakfast, he accompanied me to the terminal for the bus that would bring me to Clark. It's my first time to travel in Luzon using public transport. I've been to places outside Manila but this time, it is completely different. I am very grateful to the two ladies I met in the bus. They were so nice to accompany me on our way to Clark. They're bound for Singapore kaya I felt a little confident since we're headed for the same airport.
I had to wait for few more hours because the plane that would bring me to my destination arrived late.
I arrived 9 in the evening in my destination. Everything here is great.
That's all for now. I'll update you with my trip soon.
More of my trips can be found at Batang Lakwatsero.

Too much traffic on my new domain
A couple of days ago, Jehzeel and I launched PRC Board Exam Results. It's a web archive intended to provide recent results board exam results published by the Professional Regulation Commission. Since then, we've been doing serious campaigns and SEOs for the site.
Yesterday, the PRC released the LET August 2007 results. My english teacher friend woke me early in the morning just to announce that the results are already released. I immediately jumped to my computer to make posts.
An hour after I made my posts, the website experienced problems. Some users receive an Internal Server Error message. Sometimes, the wordpress loses its connection to the MySQL Server. We were able to fix the problem when we divided the results into several pages. It reduced the server's load.
When I checked the traffic in the evening, the site statistics showed that my site received 20,000 page views on that day. Wow. That's the highest traffic I received for a single day statistic.
SELaplana, another site which posts board exam results, even crashed because of the huge traffic.

Batang Yagit is now PR4
Yepee! I'm just glad Google Bot did not miss my blog when he last made a Page Rank check on the web. After I bought BatangYagit.com, from 2, my PR went down to zero. All of my hopes went down also. But now, I can brag my PR4. Hahaha.
I'm in NCCC Mall now for the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit. I'm excited for the day's activities.

Una, kailangan kong tapusing ang aking scholarship at enrollment requirements para next semester.
Hahaha..
Pang-apat. Hehehehe.
Pag-lima at panghuli. Aalis na ako ngayong Linggo. Kung saan? walang nakakaalam kundi ako lamang. Hehehehe..

Boss, look at mah shirt
Does your boss ask too much from you? Does he give you low pay? Does he bully you around? If not, then wear this shirt.
It's a shirt I bought last week from ArtWork. It's pretty nice. ArtWork had a sale last week so I got this shirt for only 110 pesos. Hehehe. I'll wear this in school, in my "favorite" teacher's class.

Wohoo! I now have my SmartBroken internet connection restored
After getting through a lot of hassles in restoring my internet connection, SmartBro finally fixed it.
My internet connection got disconnected sometime last week. I had to pay a few thousand to get my internet connection restored. (Just an advice, don't skip your payments cause it would get you into trouble). I missed a couple of internet bills which later accumulated and made Smart cut my subscription. The missed internet bills were during my Manila trip last May and my school retreat last September.
Last week, I went to SMART Wireless Center in Gaisano Mall to pay my subscription fees. I got pissed on how the people in SMART treated me. First, the "Arrogant Guard" didn't give the queue number immediately. Since their queuing system is broken, the "Arrogant Guard" had to manually assign a priority number. The "Arrogant Guard" is supposed to answer queries and inquiries before the client proceeds to customer care or cashier, but the "Arrogant Guard" was not able to this because the "Arrogant Guard" has to attend the "Stupid Assistant" first. The "Stupid Assistant", who is supposed to assist the "Arrogant Guard" in serving the clients, was having trouble in operating the payment kiosk of SMART. So I waited for a while for the "Arrogant Guard" to finish helping the "Stupid Assistant" before I got my priority number.
I was advised to queue for the customer care because I need my account to be verified before I can proceed to the cashier. But before I can pay to the cashier, I had to ask for another queue number from the "Arrogant Guard". The "Arrogant Guard" insisted that I should pay my money to their payment kiosk. I was hesitant after I saw what happened a while ago. So I told the "Arrogant Guard" that I need to pay the money directly to the cashier so it can be posted immediately. So the "Arrogant Guard" gave me a new queue number for the cashier.
I was standing near the "Arrogant Guard"'s position because all of the seats were already occupied. I waited for a couple of minutes when the "Arrogant Guard" suddenly talked to me. He told me to go straight to the cashier since it's already my turn. So I deliberately obliged to what he instructed me. When I reached the money and queue number to the cashier, the cashier told me, "Sir, mamaya pa po yung number nyo.".
Grrr...I can feel my blood boiling in anger. Damn that "Arrogant Guard". Damn him. I had to back off to let the other person, who happened to be ahead of me, to pay.
After paying, I didn't even dare to look at the "Arrogant Guard's" direction. Damn him.
After I made the payment, I immediately went home to check if the payment was indeed posted in SMART's system. I was disappointed to see that my LAN Card won't detect any connection. I checked the power adapter for my Canopy Adapter, checked the LAN Connections, yet, nothing worked. The message "A network cable is unplugged" still flashes at the bottom right side of my screen. I immediately called SMART Hotline to fix the problem. Their conclusion, damaged LAN Cable. They told me they'd call the next day to schedule a contractor to visit my home and fix the problem.
I waited, yet no one called. I called SMART again and told them that I will wait until evening so they could make a schedule before Monday. I waited, still no one came.
Yesterday, while I was enjoying my meal at McDonalds in SM, I received an SMS from an unknown person. It says, "Hi sir/maam. Saan po banda ang bahay nyo? SmartBRO po ito".
I asked them if they were coming because I waited for their call. The next message I received, they were already in front of my house. I had to rush back home to catch them but they sent another SMS saying they are leaving for Toril to serve another client and they'll come back later in the afternoon.
They did not show up yesterday because it rained. They said they'd come back the next day.
They had my internet fixed this morning. I had to pay an extra 200 pesos for the replacement of the iron tube where the antenna is attached. They said they can't get enough signal so they had to extend the height of the antenna. My internet connection is fixed now. Got to blog some more. I missed a lot from the few days of absence.

My First Formal Job Interview
What a life indeed.
I missed yesterday's PAL Job interview. Though I'm not much interested in working with Philippine Airlines, I still regret missing my first job interview experience. But in every cloud, there's always a silver lining. I learned from my classmate that another company is coming to conduct another job interview for the graduating students. At least I can still get my nerves high.
I rushed back to home after we brought the project to school. I immediately sent an inquiring to our division chairperson, asking what outfit should we wear. Formal or business attire, sh*t.
I had to wear (again) that old business outfit that was stored for ages inside my closet. By the sound of my previous statement, I do not have an enthusiasm for wearing formal outfit. Anything with colar and long sleeves does not drive my appetite for clothing.
The interview was scheduled at 1:30pm. It was almost 12 noon and I can't find a belt to wear. I had to rush to the mall to buy a new one. I also had my lunch at Kenny's which is the nearest restaurant from the mall's department store.
After eating and buying the stuff I needed, I went back to school. OMG, I forgot to bring my resume (or I just didn't had the time to print one). I had to talk to the HR lady and tell her that I was only informed in the morning and I have not prepared anything. But thanks to her goodness that she let me do the resume while I wait for my turn to be interviewed. That was not a good impression for the employer's view though.
The new company is Souhatsu which is an automotive part supplier. It's a Japanese owned company which is based in Cebu City. Some parts of the car are manufactured by Souhatsu. They also have the latest ISO/TQ Certification which makes their company globally competitive. Most of their clients are coming from United States, Europe, Japan and some parts of Asia.
One part before the interview is the written exam. The topics in the exam were assorted. The early part of the exam had something to do with Engineering Management and Statistics. The two subjects which I didn't take seriously. The math part was easy. The analogy part was annoying because I didn't understand some of the words used. Most of these words are in the deepest sections of the dictionary. I guess I need to improve my vocabulary.
During the interview, I got a bit nervous. It's my first experience in getting interviwed for a prospect career for my future. The interview went well. From the looks of it, I can see that the Japanese emplyers are looking for a Supervisor which can work in the Cebu production plant. Getting a supervisory job in a Japanese owned company is a good start.
I'm not hoping of being hired by their company because I am not interested in the automotive manufacturing field. But if I'd be lucky enough to be chosen, I would still be very glad. At least there's a group of people who trust my knowledge and capabilities. I'm excited for another job interview. I wonder how it would go.

What a Life

An Ambigram of my name
Kuya Erik of the Peaceful Dystopia made an ambigram of my name. An ambigram is a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. The text can also consist of a few words, and the the text spelled out in the other direction or orientation is often the same, but can also be a different text.
I first encountered ambigram in the Angels and Demons of Dan Brown. The book displayed several ambigrams which are fascinating. The ambigrams used in Brown's book were created by John Langdon.

Preparing for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 1
A lot of bloggers have already confirmed their attendance in the Mindanao Bloggers Summit this October 27. As of the latest count, 89 bloggers will convene at NCCC Mall for the whole day activity which was organized by The Usual Suspects.
Before engaging into any activity or event, one must make preparations prior to the activity. But what are the preps that should be made? I have read the "A Mini Guide to Offline Blog Events" post of Karlo (PinoyBlogero.com) and took few of his ideas on how we should prepare for an offline blog event like the Mindanao Bloggers Summit.
How to prepare for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit
How to prepare for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit
- Register for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit Event
The first thing that you should do is to register for the event. The registration for MBS1 can be found here. The registration requires the user to have his/her own blog before he/she can join the event (of course). This event is intended for amateur and professional bloggers in Mindanao. - Make the "I’m joining the Mindanao Bloggers Summit!"
This event is FREE. Thanks to our sponsors who were so generous in helping The Usual Suspects in making the event possible. Since everything in the summit is free, the only thing that the organizers ask is a single post in our blog. This post includes the links to the websites of the MBS1 sponsors. Details about the post is sent through e-mail after completing the registration form. - Update the Sponsor List
The event is so much blessed with sponsors that they keep on coming every now and then. We should update our "I’m joining the Mindanao Bloggers Summit!" for the latest list of sponsors for the event. MindanaoBloggers.com has the latest list of MBS1 sponsors. - Check the event details
Know the date, venue and other details. Check the event program to know the flow of activities. It's better if we could schedule the even in our organizers. I already posted the details on my phone's calendar and set an alarm on my organizer. You might as well use Google Calendar. It has an SMS Reminder feature where you can receive an SMS that would remind you of your scheduled appointments. - Book for a place to stay
Since this is a Mindanao-wide event, a lot of bloggers from other cities will be coming. For those of you who don't have a place to stay, book your hotel reservations at the soonest time. You don't want to sleep in the streets of Davao, right? - Know how to get to the venue
For those who do not know how to get to the venue, NCCC Mall is located at MacArthur Highway, Ma-a, Davao City. It's near the downtown are of the city. To be sure, take a cab. If you're on a tight budget, take the Ma-a jeepneys from downtown Davao. It usually stops by NCCC. - Prepare your get-up
First impressions last forever. You don't want your readers to remember you as the blogger who wore a torn shirt and mismatched slippers during the event. Plan on what you will wear on the day of the event. It's a casual gathering. A casual outfit would do. For me, i'm planning to print a Batang Yagit shirt. - Prepare some blogger business card
A lot of bloggers will be coming in the event. It's a chance for you to do a little advert. Prepare a flashy business card. You might want to include your Name, Blogger Nick, Blog Name, URL, E-mail, Messenger ID and other information that you think necessary. It's a good way for other participants to remember you after the event. It might even drive more traffic to your site. - Find an event buddy
Befriend other bloggers who will be attending the summit. It's better if you have someone to talk to when you feel you are out of place during the event. It's inevitable. - Bring your camera and laptop with you
You might want to do some live updates of the event on your blog. Posting pictures and event updates would be easier since NCCC is one of the many WiFi HotSpots in Davao City which offers FREE WiFi access.

Pinoy Torch bearer ranks 3
Yesterday, I asked Jehzeel to do a last minute campaign in gathering votes for Marcos Antonio Torres who's vying for the privilege of carrying the Olympics torch towards the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. The deadline for voting is on Sunday, October 14.
When I checked the voting page this evening, I was shocked that the votes reached 8,100. As of the latest count, Marcos rank 3 among the hundreds who made their attempts. We are just a few thousands away from the American expat who ranks first. I have high hopes that we can make it to the top.
Do your part now. It's not yet too late. Vote our fellow FILIPINO.

Print Screen Meme
My Desktop Free View Instruction: A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by: [1] Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key). [2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). [3] If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it. B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of Icons, things like that. C. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well. D. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants. Link Lovin: Allen, Ate Aileen, Kuya Andrew, Kuya Oliver, Ate Ria, Kirbitz, AethenI have not answered a meme in ages. Jehzeel tagged me for this meme few weeks ago. This purpose of this meme is to show a print screen of the tagged person's desktop.
There's nothing interesting that can be seen on my desktop. I have this modified wallaper, cracked windows theme and a messy start menu. Desktop icons? nah. I prefer a clean desktop.

How to maximize the use of your Casio 991MS Calculator
As engineering students, part of our i-use-everyday-stuff is the calculator. You'd surely fail if you don't have one. But sometimes, getting bored in class is inevitable. One must find ways to dig some fun during classes.
We have deviced several tricks how you could maximize the use of your Casio 991MS calculator in a fun way.
The Number Game
You can use the Random Number feature of the calculator to generate random number. By multiplying the random number by 10 and setting FIX parameter to 0, we can get a single-digit whole number which we can use for a number guessing game.
You can increase the number of output digits by increasing the number of zeros in the multiplier.
The Betting Game
Ohhh.. this one's not good but we're looking at it as a possibility. You can use the technique I mentioned above and do some slight modifications. Let's say, the person who get a bigger output gets the pot.
Hahaha. nah! You can't possibly do this while having classes.
The Fastest Finger
This game test which person has the fastest key-press speed. The person with most key press made wins. The number of key press made is determined by the counter (answer).
This can be done by first pressing 0 and the = keys. Next is to enter Ans + 1. To start the game, the users should continuously press the = sign until the alloted time is up.
For Messaging
Since talking in class or using the mobile phone is prohibited, why not use your calculator?
You can use the symbols, constants, formulas, and functions innate on your calculator to form words and phrases which you could pass on your seat mate. Hehehe.. it's very useful in those boring moments.

What to blog, what to blog?
It has been a while since the last time I made a post on this blog. I've been very busy in school these days that I can't find time to make a post. The creative juices and crave for blogging seems to ran out of my head. I dunno. I'm just exhausted in school stuff.
It's my 200th post and I don't have any sensible topic to post. I hope this one would do.

Laong Laan
Few of you might have wondered of the sudden blog identity crisis of BatangYagit.com this afternoon. I changed my profile and title from Batang Yagit to Laong Laan.
A friend, who's making a project for her Mass Communication course, asked me if she could use my blog for her film. The film is about a lonely person named Laong Laan. A part of the film is wherein Laong Laan's friend opened Laong Laan's blog (Batang Yagit's blog). That's the reason behind that I am too much alone in this world post.
Yes, the poem was nice but i'm not in the mood of getting emo. I didn't write the poem either. The author's name was written right after the poem. Hehehhee. There's only one poem I could remember that I wrote for the past 10 years of my life. (It's not that good i think.)

I am Much Too Alone in this World
enough
to truly consecrate the hour.
I am much too small in this world, yet not small
enough
to be to you just object and thing,
dark and smart.
I want my free will and want it accompanying
the path which leads to action;
and want during times that beg questions,
where something is up,
to be among those in the know,
or else be alone.
I want to mirror your image to its fullest perfection,
never be blind or too old
to uphold your weighty wavering reflection.
I want to unfold.
Nowhere I wish to stay crooked, bent;
for there I would be dishonest, untrue.
I want my conscience to be
true before you;
want to describe myself like a picture I observed
for a long time, one close up,
like a new word I learned and embraced,
like the everday jug,
like my mother's face,
like a ship that carried me along
through the deadliest storm.
Poem by: Rilke, Rainer Maria
